Doug's Biography

Doug Wilson is a founder and managing partner with Breakthrough Technologies. Doug has been a lead design engineer for several healthcare and life-critical systems. He was a principal development engineer for a $1B high-volume blood analysis instrument, and in healthcare has served as technical lead for several software teams, performed architecture and analytical roles, has led modeling and performance analysis initiatives.

Since starting Breakthrough, Doug has served as acting chief technical officer for a variety of our clients.  He has created partnerships with Chicago-area interface and design firms to create integrated and collaborative project teams that can perform world-class software product development.

Since 2003, Doug has led Breakthrough in providing specialized services that create superior technology solutions in the small and medium business space in the Midwest.  By leveraging right-sized consulting methods, and really taking the time to understand his customers business, Doug is able to craft an appropriate technology strategy and provide the development and deployment services of his organization to create truly cost effective business solutions.  Doug's interest in open source software technology has often provided low-cost, high functioning solutions at a percentage of what customers might expect they have to pay.

Doug has been involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle - from planning and requirements analysis to design and construction to testing and deployment.

Since founding Breakthrough, Doug has made it his mission to create innovative solutions for customers who need access to smart, local people who care about their business and seek to create unique business/technology solutions that allow Breakthrough's customers to succeed in their markets.

Doug received his BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1990.
He is an active member of the MIT Enterprise Forum of Chicago and networks actively in the Chicago Technology community, including the Illinois Technology Association, and the Technology Executives Club.
