Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education's (ACCME) mission is the identification, development, and promotion of standards for quality continuing medical education (CME) utilized by physicians in their maintenance of competence and incorporation of new knowledge to improve quality medical care for patients and their communities. The ACCME fulfills its mission through a voluntary self-regulated system for accrediting CME providers and a peer-review process responsive to changes in medical education and the health care delivery system.

The ACCME has the daunting task of accrediting all Continuing Medical Education Providers in the United States.  The ACCME does this with an excellent core staff and an impressive network of volunteers who conduct assessments of their peer educational organizations.

Breakthrough was contracted to build the next generation of their assessment tools, including the development of criterion-based survey forms that integrate seamlessly into the volunteer workflow and the internal processes for subsequent review and management of the accreditation workflow.

Breakthrough also built a rich media site allowing staff and community members to share video education and instructional content on the site - a virtual private YouTube of sorts that was launched in Summer 2009.
