Meet Susan Werth, our New Quality Assurance Specialist

By: Monique Muldrow

Susan began her career in banking, but a request from her sister changed her path and eventually led her to us.

Tell us a little bit about your technical expertise and how you ended up with that skillset.

I took a COBOL class for my business degree and actually found it fun.  Programming was like putting a puzzle together and I ended up helping out quite a few people with that class.  After several years in banking, my sister convinced me to move to Chicago.  I considered this an opportunity and decided to pursue my master’s degree in IT at DePaul University.  The rest is history.

Which do you prefer, coffee or tea?

I love the taste of coffee (lattes) but have become an avid tea drinker.

IPhone or Galaxy?

Galaxy, although an iPod and iPad have infiltrated the house.

Favorite hobbies?

I like biking, hiking, skiing, camping, traveling, going to live theater, cooking healthy foods, researching holistic health and wellness topics, and spending time with my family.

Where does your allegiance lie? Apple, Microsoft, Google or [Other]?

Google

Where did you grow up?

West Palm Beach, FL.  It’s a nice place to visit in the winter, but I wouldn’t want to live there again.

Describe your earliest computing or Internet memory.

While getting my bachelor’s degree, I took a COBOL class on the mainframe.  I also took a class on learning WordPerfect and Lotus 1-2-3, all using DOS and floppy disks.

Do you have a pet?

We have an elderly cat, 2 guinea pigs and some snails

What software or websites couldn't you live without?

This is not very exciting, but I love Google calendar.  My husband and I never have to talk because we share our calendars with each other (kidding).  I have Business Calendar on my Android phone, which translates beautifully.  Also, some of the organizations I volunteer for have their calendars in Google.

Favorite Sport?

Can’t say I’m a sports person.  I like individual sports like hiking, biking, running and skiing.

Star Wars or Star Trek? Answer VERY carefully (we take this stuff seriously)...

Star Wars, mainly because I am reliving the first movies with my kids again.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?

Don’t sweat the small stuff and live an authentic life.

What was your first job?

I worked at Orange Julius in the Palm Beach Mall.
